Holly's Law Canada is the regulation of age appropriate school programs that enable children to identify and cope with sexual abuse.

Thus reducing the costs to society associated with abuses of children, of which research funded by the Law Commission of Canada has evaluated as greater than $ 15 billion dollars per year nationally.

HELP MAKE HOLLY’S LAW HAPPEN! - SEND A QUICK EMAIL TO THE PREMIER AND TO THE EDUCATION MINISTER

1. Open your email system for composing a new message, and copy/ paste the following text into the message:

Dear Premier, Dear Minister Dombrowsky,

We are writing to request your support of Holly’s Law, which is to mandate primary prevention programs for every school board in Ontario.

Holly’s Law is sponsored by MPP Cheri DiNovo as a Private Member’s Motion.  Quoting MPP DiNovo in the press release of December 10th 2008; “Currently in Ontario, there are no comprehensive child abuse prevention programs that are delivered consistently in elementary schools. This motion will go a long way to protecting Ontario children and will honour the memory of Holly Jones”.

Effective primary prevention programs have been shown to reduce children’s vulnerability to victimisation and abuse.  In some Ontarian school boards, cost-conscious primary prevention programs such as that of BOOST Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention are already being accessed with successful results.  Given the diversity across the different regions of Ontario, Holly’s Law is not calling for any one program in particular to be applied on a uniform basis.   Holly’s Law is to guarantee that at least some effective prevention program of a school board’s choosing be accessible to every child in Ontario.

We would like to thank you in advance for taking action, understanding that it is every child’s right to know how to protect themselves, and that it is our obligation to give them the tools.
